The Next Generation in Digital Signage – Laser TV!

By | July 13, 2009

Mitsubishi Digital Electronics have announced that they are to launch a laser powered HD television, this will be called the LaserVue.

The concept behind this TV is that the screen is lit with high purity light, red, blue and green laser instead of white light bulbs, providing a wider colour zone with clearer tones. The laser aspect is said to be more efficient than standard LCD televisions or plasma TV’s.

The TV uses class 1, safety rated lasers in a digital light protection display, this precisely focused laser beam gives 1920 x 1080 pixels resolution with 36 bit colour depth.

The laser TV is 3D ready, ensuring a smooth integration into Mitsubishi’s home cinema kit.

So the question has to be asked, how this will impact the digital signage market, as it will be able to use the 3D facilities to push products literally into customers faces! Digital outdoor signage is growing fast with many major players investing heavily even in a recession. If these are placed outdoors, then LCD enclosures will be required, these will protect the investment from the weather, theft and abuse.
