A backyard TV is increasing in popularity.

Enjoying a backyard TV in your very own home is priceless but you will need either a plasma enclosure or an LCD enclosure to protect not only from the weather but from opportunist thieves.

With the recession biting hard last summer, many families decided to cut their vacations and spend the money on their home to add value, now due to this increase in home improvements people see the benefit of creating outdoor living areas, as these can be used throughout the year depending on the location and country.

People are extending their home into the garden and backyard as this is sometimes an unused space, but will a little work this can be transformed into an outdoor lounge.

Creating a lounge in you backyard.
One of the easiest ways is to measure the area you have set out and plan it out on a piece of squared paper, this way you can see how it looks before you commit to any building work and can easily change things around.

You will need a seating area; these can easily be creating by laying a shallow foundation of concrete, on this you can put masonry blocks to build up a seating area. Using the masonry blocks will create a storage are inside the seat so you can store away items that would normally be left out and make your garden or backyard untidy.

Don’t forget to get the mix right between the sand and the cement, usually the mix should be 1 part cement to 3 part sand and never lay masonry blocks in temperatures less than 3 degrees Celsius, otherwise the water in the mix will freeze and expand causing the joint the fail.

Depending on the location the configuration for the seating area is normally in a U shape and then in the middles of the U (the open end) a TV can be positioned.

Depending no the community you may need to protect your TV from opportunist thieves as well as the weather.

But first things first, due to the price of plasma and LCD television pricing dropping so quickly this now permits home owners to position a TV in their backyard, but a backyard TV needs protection from several challenges.

The first is the weather, but I hear you say that there are waterproof TVs on the market, yes that is correct but unless your pockets are very deep the price will definitely stop the renovation moving forward. So the other cheaper solution is to use a regular TV and put it in an outdoor casing. These casings protect the TV and satellite boxes from the local weather and theft.

The better LCD and plasma enclosure range offer anti vandal locks on their units which will certainly prevent the opportunist thief from stealing your TV, these higher specified housings also come with thicker viewing windows up to 3/4” this protects the TV from accidental damage and even withstands a solid object being thrown at it by a frustrated thief.

Stainless steel LCD enclosures.

Stainless steel LCD enclosures are used in locations that are prone to corrosion due to the high salt content in the air by the sea, this is location is key.

When starting a business, we are told location is key, now as you can appreciate a restaurant owner who has the opportunity to open near or in a harbour setting will attract clients who will be using the harbour to moor their yachts. These customers will require a little more attention and looking after as these clients are good tippers.

This is why most of the restaurants near a harbour are high quality with superior dining with an exquisite dining experience, one such restaurant was promoting their huge wine list using Apple iPads, here you could select the wine and match the prefect meal to the wine for the ultimate in fine dining, not surprisingly then the bottles of wine ranged from $159 to over $1,000 per bottle.

Now this is why many harbour and quayside restaurants are investing in digital signage to display their menu to possible passing customers, to tempt them in to their restaurant. These restaurant owners are using digital menu boards in the form of flat screen TVs, connected to a media player, now these solutions need protecting form the salt in the air otherwise the hardware will fail very quickly, so the best solution is to put the hardware into 316 stainless steel LCD enclosures.

This grade of stainless steel is one of the highest grades of stainless that protects from salt corrosion and is also used in food production, due to the wash down solutions used in factories.

Stainless steel LCD enclosures have to be of a crack and crevice free design, preventing any bacteria or salt build up, resulting in a rust spot. Now what about the finish of the stainless steel? This can be a dull mill finish or a manually polished or bushed finish, this is what we are more familiar with and this has a grain effect on the steel and provides a more aesthetically pleasing product.

Digital Poster – New Technology.

Now a digital poster is being used to provide the most modern and innovative infomercials possible, used specifically for selling products or services the return on investment is fast.

Infomercials are commonly recognised in the USA and Canada, but the home shopping market is large, this is why many large and small stores are using tactics to promote their end of season products or sale products to customers.

Now products can be displayed and demonstrated to show how our lives will be enriched by owning them, one company has been using them for some time to promote various products, the most recent infomercial showed how we could not live without this tool that stored Wellington boots upside down and also allowed the customer an easy on and off with their boots, bearing in mind this December in England has been the worst for snow in the past two decades, this tool sold out in the first week, proving that infomercials work.

How does a digital poster work?

The commercial on the digital poster was displaying several people who had been for a walk coming into the house and all apart from one person was struggling taking their snow laden Wellington boots off. The person who wasn’t struggling just put his heel in the tool and slid his foot out then did the same with the other boot and then picked the tool up that held the boots and he put them in the porch so the snow would drip off them and they would be fine (no cleaning) next time he needed the Wellington boots.

The digital poster is a standalone solution having an advertising media player built into the screen, all the commercials are loaded onto a memory card and the dwell time set (how long the ad runs), so that when it finishes it loops round again.

Retail outlets have been using digital posters for some time, to advertise the time and date their “super price beater” sale starts, featuring some of the designer clothing and handbags at a vastly reduced price. Ever supermarkets have been using digital posters to advertise and promote new additions to their product range, this way they can see how successful the marketing campaign was, if it wasn’t they can change the ads until they have a winning formula.

With these digital advertising screens the modern appearance to the customer shows how serious the business is in providing up to the minute informative information, now every business from a car part store to a hair salon, all for a very modest cost, the return on the investment is said to be a matter of 2 to 3 months.

Another option would be to sell ad spots on the hardware, so other businesses can advertise on your hardware and you can make a residual income every month that will certainly pay the hardware. A typical ad spot can cost in the region of $70 to $100 per week, so if you had 20 advertisers, ever month you would make an extra $8000. Customers can pay for a 3 or 5 minute ad spot and the price can increase depending on the length of the advert.
